A Centenary Celebration

To mark the Centenary of the Society in 2004, a history of the Society has been published. A large hardback volume, it has 320 pages with over 250 colour illustrations. Containing much original research, it is a new source of information for art buyers, lovers of the Lake District, collectors and historians.

The book contains biographical details of all members, past and present, and illustrations of their work. Fully indexed, it also relates the history of the Society, which has nurtured some of the most interesting art talents to be found in the north of England during the past 100 years.

The author is Jane Renouf, BA (Hons) who has been working as a writer and journalist in the Lake District for over 30 years. In that time she has contributed widely to the local and national press on cultural and topical matters in the area and has played an important role in the archiving of local history. She has reviewed many local art exhibitions and serves as a director of the Armitt Museum, Ambleside. A previous publication was a biography of the artist Alfred Heaton Cooper.

The book is available from most Lake District bookshops. You can also order it from your local bookshop, ISBN 0-9546785-0-8. If you wish, you can order a copy of the book direct - please print out this page, cut out and complete the order form below and post with your remittance to the address shown.
