James Ingham Riley, elected to the Society 1982
James Ingham Riley was born in Accrington in 1928. He studied at Accrington College of Art and worked as a textile designer for 18 years. He moved to Ambleside in 1969 and became a full time painter.

Inspiration for Jim comes from walking and climbing in the Lake District and Scotland, particularly the Isle of Skye. His love of mountains and upland regions, combined with sound technical experience, produces work in his unmistakably strong style.

Jim Riley's work is in many private collections, both in the UK and abroad.
Further web site representation of his work can be found at Beckstones Art Gallery
