Meryll Evans, elected to the Society 1979
Meryll Evans
Meryll Evans trained at Cheltenham and Reading in Fine Arts. Marriage then took her to Kenya where the vast landscapes and the variety and vitality of the peoples, flora and fauna became and remain a great source of inspiration. Her lifelong fascination with portraiture has been described as searching for the soul of her sitters.

Life size portrait heads, reliefs - from miniatures to life size - and the African folk studies remain her core subjects and are carried out in bronze, plaster, many resin based materials and terracotta fired in her own kiln.

She loves the challenge of new public or private commissions. Examples of her work can be seen in the UK, Kenya, USA, Canada and Japan.
