Philip MacLeod Coupe, elected to the Society 1985
Philip MacLeod Coupe was born in 1944. He was educated at King George V Grammar School, Southport, Lancashire and studied architecture, being elected RIBA in 1974. Throughout the 1970's and early 1980's he made musical instruments professionally. He settled in Cumbria in 1980 and was elected to the Lake Artists Society in 1984. He was President of the Society from 1990 to 2005.

Working in both oil and watercolour, he has painted a wide range of subjects but more especially still life and coastal and mountain landscape.
