Born in 1945, Martin moved to the Lake District with his family when he was thirteen. On leaving Art College he spent some years teaching at Brathay Hall Outward Bound Centre on the shores of Windermere. He then went on to run his own Gallery and Art Shop with his wife in Ambleside. For many years now he has worked as a full time professional artist.
Although a lot of his work is based on the Lake District landscape, he also spends much of his time on painting trips in Europe and beyond.
Over the years Martin has shown his work in exhibitions at many galleries including the Royal Academy, The Mall Galleries, The Laing Gallery Newcastle, The Walker Gallery in Liverpool and more locally at Abbot Hall in Kendal. Martin's work can be seen by appointment at his Studio/home in Ambleside.
