Vivienne spent her early years in the Lake District where she became a very keen mountaineer. She also began to enjoy painting in water-colour, and was made a member of the Lake Artists Society in 1965 at the age of 21. In 1972, Vivienne gained an art degree in printed textile design at Manchester Polytechnic. The next few years were spent living in Lancashire and then Cheshire, whilst bringing up her family.
Painting was eventually resumed with renewed enthusiasm and Vivienne was able to move back to live in her beloved Lake District. She was re-elected to the Lake Artists in 2000, and is enjoying her membership once again.
Since 1999, Vivienne has walked and painted in the Alps. This had been a life-long ambition which culminated in three solo exhibitions of Alpine Paintings, held in 2005,2006 and 2007 at Rheged (near Penrith) and at Brantwood (near Coniston).
Later, in 2007, Vivienne went to Nepal and trekked to Everest Base Camp, also a lifelong ambition.
During this time, Vivienne began painting in oils, which opened up new delight and enjoyment into her painting. She now paints in both oil and water-colour, her subjects mostly depicting the Lake District.

Vivienne has her own studio/gallery at her home address, open by appointment.
