Marion Bradley

Born in Darwen Lancashire, Marion worked in textile design for six years before moving to Ambleside with her husband, the artist J. Ingham Riley in 1969. She spent a lot of time walking, climbing and mountain biking in the area. She began painting landscapes around her shortly after moving to the Lake District.

Working mainly in oils and acrylics, she likes to paint flowers in landscape in the summer months - they bring a welcome flush of colour when the general views are a bit cabbage green. She is particularly attracted to a low viewpoint, a rabbits eye view so to speak. In winter she likes to paint the lakes and farms in the valleys around.

Marion has had many joint exhibitions with her late husband Jim and has taken part in many other exhibitions in Cumbria and Lancashire. She is a member of Lake Artists Society, and a founder member of Ambleside and District Art Society. Her work is in many private collections, both here and abroad.
