Working life meant teaching art in Merseyside, Tyneside and Northumberland schools, before moving to Cumbria to complete an MA in Contemporary Arts Practice and to work in Adult Education as Arts and Crafts Coordinator for Cumbria.
The move enabled the purchase of a Columbian Press, which needs a bit of space and firm foundations.
Marion specialises in printmaking, particularly relief prints. These have mainly been reduction Lino cuts, although she is now experimenting with etching Lino using caustic soda.
Subject matter varies. Past topics have included torn net curtains - intended to comment upon abandoned homes in rural Ireland, broken fencing to suggest entrapment( or escape),ruined ancient settlements. Other work reflects visits to West Coasts in Ireland, Cornwall, Alaska and Norway with the idea of coastal defences and man’s attempt to defy the elements.
