Christine Baines
Christine became a member of LAS in 2008. Born in Ambleside and now working from her studio at Loughrigg she is continually inspired by the landscape on her doorstep and being a lover of nature also, the surrounding flora and fauna.
She is happy to work in all mediums but most commonly uses watercolour and pastel.
As a long-standing member of the Ambleside and District Art Society she enjoys the plein air painting sessions in summer, filling her sketchbooks with watercolours.
It is, however, the winter landscape which truly inspires her, with its low sun, long shadows, frost covered foliage and the tracery of the tree branches, and preferably a fall of snow to put the icing on the cake.
